The Protection, Regulation and Assurance business unit ensures the quality and safety of health and disability services, protects and promotes the health of New Zealanders and provides assurance and enforcement for both regulatory and contract compliance.
We're looking for an Assistant Advisor to join the Ethics Committees team. This team supports seven ethics committees. These committees review applications from researchers to check that they meet established ethical standards.
The Assistant Advisor will provide administrative and advisory support to the ethics committees and the advisors. You'll be responsible for ensuring decisions are processed efficiently and that regular and annual reporting supports the work of the committees and informs advice to the Minister and Chairs. In addition, you'll assist with processing of ethics applications, reporting and minute taking for committee meetings.
In particular, the role will support the work of the Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology that reviews ethics applications from fertility clinics.
Key to your success in this role will be your previous administrative experience. You'll be known for providing timely and efficient administrative support to a busy team and effectively juggling multiple priorities! You'll bring a can-do attitude, and a keen interest to develop in ethics, philosophy and/or research principles! You will need be experienced in managing sensitive information and interested in working in an intellectually challenging environment.
The role would suit a new graduate or someone seeking to build their career in human ethics, research, and human rights advice.
