The Ministry of Health is the Government's principal advisor on health and disability policy. Our job is to protect the health of New Zealanders and, through leadership of the health and disability system, we help New Zealanders to live well, stay well and get well. We work with the health and disability sector to manage a programme of work that supports the Government's priorities.
The newly created Manager, Strategy and Engagement will provide leadership and advice across the Health Workforce New Zealand (HWNZ) business unit with a focus on engagement and strategic planning.
Health Workforce New Zealand is the unit within the Ministry of Health responsible for national co-ordination and leadership on workforce issues. We provide advice on workforce development, gather workforce data and intelligence and invest in health workforce training. Our support is designed to ensure the health system has the right people, in the right place with the right skills to provide the best care and outcomes for our population.
The Manager, Strategy and Engagement will lead, develop, implement and monitor HWNZ's approach to stakeholder relations which will support its engagement philosophy, focused on working with workforce groups including medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health, carers and Kaiāwhina and across the wider health sector and within the Ministry of Health. This will entail overall planning, direction, quality and content of HWNZ's communications and engagement strategy and initiatives, and providing strategic advice and support.
In addition, this role will provide leadership and direction to a small team, and will play a critical leadership role as part of the overall Health Workforce team.
To be successful, you'll likely have had a successful communications background at a senior level and previous government experience. You'll be confident building relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, skilled at thinking broadly, and making strategic decisions.
