The Ministry of Health is the Government's principal advisor on health and disability policy. Our job is to protect the health of New Zealanders and, through leadership of the health and disability system, we help New Zealanders to live longer, healthier and more independent lives. We participate in ACC's Accredited Employers Programme and are proud to have maintained Tertiary accreditation.
Our newly created Principal Advisor, Health & Safety is a senior practitioner responsible for providing strategic and operational health and safety expertise that will help enrich our employee's work-life.
This is a critical role and will work closely with the Group Manager, Operations and will provide leadership and guidance to various stakeholders including the Executive Leadership Team, and Health and Safety committees across the Ministry to develop, implement, and champion the programme outcomes across the Ministry.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills & experience:

Provide policy or strategic advice at a senior level in a public sector organisation, or equivalent experience in a relevant field

Experience implementing health and safety best practice across a large, multi-office organisation
-
Experience working on national projects and within governance structures
-
Experience communicating with a wide range of audiences on complex issues
-
Experience working with senior managers
-
Experience working through others to achieve outcomes
-
Knowledge of the ACC Accredited Employers programme and experience in the audit process

Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
