Ministry of Health is going through some exciting change in the BI and Analytical space at the moment. A new BI and Data Warehouse Strategy has been developed by the team and a project to improve the BI and Analytical environment has just kicked off – introducing Qlik Sense as our new BI Tool.We are now looking for our next star – an enthusiastic & creative Senior Data Warehouse and Reporting Analyst to support Ministry of Health in producing high quality Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse solutions – to help us bring data to life to change lives.
The Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse team (BIDW team) sits in the National Collections and reporting group within Technology and Digital Services (T&DS) based in Wellington.
In this role you will specify, design and deliver Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse solutions which exceeds business expectations. You are expected to have a positive outlook and excellent skills in collaborating within the team, across the Ministry and the wider health sector.
Initially this role will have a focus on supporting the National Screening Unit by providing expert knowledge and understanding of reporting requirements across all NSU programmes. The National Screening Unit (NSU) is the central agency responsible for providing operational and clinical leadership for organised national cancer, antenatal and new-born screening programmes:. The NSU's vision is: “High Quality, Equitable and Accessible National Screening Programmes.”
NSU currently have two exciting projects about to kick-off;
migrating and upgrading the Breast Screening Data Mart in the Oracle National Collections Data Warehouse (currently in a standalone SQL Reporting Database)
- a new Bowel Screening Data Mart to be built in the Oracle National Collections Data Warehouse
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
A strong client focus with good networking, interpersonal and relationship building skills
The ability to communicate clearly in a variety of settings
Strong Oracle SQL skills.
SQL Server (SSRS) skills is desirable but not essential.
A great understanding of Data Warehousing
A good understanding of Business Intelligence and Data warehouse trends
A good understanding of different data warehouse modelling techniques
Experience in mentoring, and support of colleagues and stakeholders
Ability to Identify and define pragmatic solutions that are easily implemented and adhere to common BI practices
Ability to bring together diverse concepts and design data solutions that not only meet requirements but also provide the best possible value for consumers and stakeholders
- Knowledge of WhereScape RED is beneficial but not essential.
