Medsafe is the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority responsible for the regulation of therapeutic products in New Zealand.
We're looking for a Team Leader, Medicines Assessment to join us in the Product Regulation Branch on a permanent, full-time basis. The Product Regulation Branch is responsible for the pre-market assessment of new and changed medicines.
As the Team Leader, Medicines Assessment, you will provide high quality advice on the safety, quality and efficacy of new and changed medicines, with a particular focus on biological and other prescription medicines. In addition, you will lead a team of medicine evaluators in carrying out their duties.
To be considered for this position, you will have a qualification in a relevant field such as chemistry, pharmacy, pharmacology, or other sciences with an emphasis on medicines, and have the desire and expertise to contribute to the regulation of medicines in New Zealand.
The successful applicant is likely to have the following:
Experience in appraising safety, quality and efficacy data and articulating the benefits and risks of medicines
An ability to provide credible and evidence-based technical and scientific advice
Demonstrated ability of leading a team of technical experts
An incisive mind able to learn new things and to quickly understand complex situations
In addition, you will also have exceptional written and oral communication skills, and excellent time management skills.
