Working at the Ministry of Health isn't what you might think. The last year has seen massive changes, with new leadership and a cultural revolution. And if you can see yourself in a value-based workforce doing meaningful work that improves health outcomes for all New Zealanders, you'll be impressed at what you'll find.
As a Senior HR Advisor, you'll be an authority on everything to do with operational HR, the person our team leaders and managers come to for guidance and support. There's loads of opportunity to learn and upskill, with interesting cases and sometimes complex situations. We aren't anticipating a future with much ER work, but if that's an area you enjoy, you'll be happy to know that you'll follow those cases all the way to resolution.
With so much positive change going on, there's a real buzz around the Ministry, and it's a great time to join. Working in a political environment that's in the spotlight is fascinating from an HR perspective. And we've just had a large-scale OD programme signed off, which is going to be a big, absorbing piece of work and a huge asset to your role. It's a culture of fresh thinking, of collaboration, of transparency.
But as a seasoned HR professional, you'll know that workplace culture is really the people. And that means that we hire for attributes and attitude. We're looking for someone with good judgement and intuition, who's collegial and empathetic. We want you to be inquisitive and curious – a person who loves the detective side of HR, unravelling and digging to get to the bottom of things. You can bring experience from the public or private sector, or both, and qualifications aren't necessarily a must, but you do need to be established at a senior level.
As you can see, we're eager to find the right people to keep up the momentum. And that's why we want to extend an offer to serious candidates to meet members of our team over coffee. We're aware of the past challenges our Ministry has faced, but we want you to have the opportunity to see for yourself what we're doing differently.
So can you lend your skills and expertise to our cultural shift? If you think so, and you're keen to use them to help New Zealanders, we can't wait to hear from you.
