The Ministry of Health has a great opportunity for 2 fixed-term (to 30 June 2020) Policy or Senior Policy Analysts to join the team transforming the Disability Support System
A nationwide transformation of the disability support system is under way, with the recent launch of a prototype, Mana Whaikaha, in the MidCentral District Health Board region.
The objectives of transforming the system are to give disabled people and their whānau more options and decision making authority about their supports and lives, to improve their outcomes, and to create a more cost-effective disability support system.
This is an opportunity to join a great team of people who are passionate about creating a system that works for the people it serves. Cabinet has agreed to a substantial policy work programme and this is an opportunity to contribute to or lead analysis and advice on the next phase of system transformation.
The ideal people for these roles:
Are familiar with the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles and the social model of disability
Have sufficient experience in a policy role, including the ability to write high quality, fit for purpose memos, briefings and reports
Have a good understanding of equity and types of analysis that build an understanding of what is happening for different population groups in New Zealand
Have experience of working collaboratively both within a team but also across government
Have produced high quality written work including briefings, correspondence, parliamentary questions and papers to Ministers
Have experience in leading projects and supporting and mentoring other people to complete tasks or achieve an outcome
Operate with personal integrity, sound judgment and an honest and ethical approach.
A relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experience in health or disability policy is required. We welcome applications from people who have lived experience as a disabled person.
