Are you looking for your next policy challenge? The Ministry of Health is looking for a permanent full time Policy Analyst to join the Māori Health Directorate in delivering quality policy advice.
We are seeking a motivated and able policy generalist to support the Māori Health Business Unit in advising the Minister and Associate Ministers of Health on Māori health policy issues. In this role you will have the opportunity to think about how to best support Māori health providers to provide quality services to the people they serve and will have input into policy work on topics ranging from a Māori health action plan to New Zealand's reports on its international obligations.
We are operating in a fast paced environment, with increased pressures in delivering on significant projects and core business. This important area of the public sector and of the Ministry will provide great learning and countless opportunities to contribute to a variety of health policy issues.
Applicants will bring their natural curiosity, drive for results and knowledge of policy development to help us question the status quo, assess risk and deliver better health outcomes for New Zealanders. Across all our work there is a strong focus on achieving equitable health outcomes, and a drive to delivering better outcomes for Māori is a must.
To be successful in this role you will have:
a relevant tertiary qualification that involved presenting written arguments, based on a range of evidence
a keen interest in public policy, the work of central government and improving Māori health
critical thinking and sound judgement, with the ability to pick things up quickly
highly developed written and oral communication skills
strong networking, interpersonal and relationship building skills
personal integrity, sound judgment and an honest and ethical approach
