Senior Advisor (Fixed-term or secondment to 30 June 2020)
The Ministry of Health has a great opportunity for a person to join the team transforming the Disability Support System
A transformation of the disability support system is under way, with the recent launch of a prototype, Mana Whaikaha, in the MidCentral District Health Board region.
The objectives of transforming the system are to give disabled people and their whānau more options and decision making authority about their supports and lives, to improve their outcomes, and to create a more cost-effective disability support system.
This is an opportunity to join a great team of people who are passionate about creating a system that works for the people it serves. The focus of this role is lead and provide high quality advice on operational components of the system transformation work programme.
This will include including leading and supporting the development and review of operational policies for the prototype, provider and workforce capability development, managing contracts and procurement, financial analysis and advice, and engaging with disability stakeholders.
The ideal person for this role will have:
strong analytical and advisory skills and experience, particularly within government
understanding of financial policies and processes, procurement and contract management – advantageous if you have existing experience in these areas within a government setting
familiarity with the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles and the social model of disability
knowledge of and experience with the disability sector - advantageous if you have existing constructive relationships with key disability sector stakeholders
high quality writing and communication skills
experience of working collaboratively both within a team but also across government and with external stakeholders
personal integrity, sound judgment and an honest and ethical approach.
A relevant tertiary qualification or comparable experience in the health or disability sector is required. We encourage applications from people who have lived experience as a disabled person or as a family member of a disabled person.
