Seeking two 5-6 month secondment opportunities the first secondment will start beginning of August 2019.
Due to our Chief Allied Health Professions Officer (CAHPO) taking up the Harkness Fellowship for 11 months, we are seeking expressions of interest for an exceptional leader of allied health professions to work with us as the Acting Chief Allied Health Professions Officer.
The CAHPO is a key point of contact for clinical leadership and advice to the Minister of Health, the Ministry and the health system. The CAHPO is responsible for making a proactive strategic contribution across the Ministry's business units and outputs. The role includes providing expert advice to inform policy, decision-making and delivery of relevant activities relating to allied health and the wider objectives of the Ministry.
You will be a member of the Ministry's Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and provide support to the Director-General and your Ministry colleagues to deliver on the Ministry's sector leadership and stewardship roles, including overseeing delivery of the CAHPO work programme. Clinical leadership and strategic direction is to be of the highest quality, supporting the Ministry to lead implementation of changes to the health and disability system.
We are seeking a person with excellent knowledge of the New Zealand health and disability sector and a comprehensive understanding of legislation, regulation, education, professional development, research, health quality and safety, employment and workforce planning particularly as they relate to the allied health professions. Due to the nature of this opportunity, you will be in a current senior allied health leadership position within the New Zealand health sector, with an employer willing to support you taking up the secondment in a part time capacity.
You will be a highly motivated, self-directed person and take responsibility for delivering agreed key objectives with the Director-General of Health.
A key aspect of the work involves cross government and health sector communication. You will be an excellent communicator and possess a proven ability to think critically, to formulate and present complex ideas and be able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
