The Mental Health and Addiction Directorate of the Ministry of Health works to ensure mental health and addiction services are strong, sustainable and safe for all New Zealanders. Our focus is on delivering on He Ara Oranga – The Inquiry response priority programmes.
The role of Group Manager Mental Health Specialist Services is a new leadership role in our Directorate that will be responsible for providing high quality strategic leadership and direction of the Specialist Services team in the implementation of He Ara Oranga. This will include:
- partnering with DHBs to support specialist services to achieve sustainability through change;
- partnering with the Ministry's Chief Advisor Māori to ensure the work programme reflects the crowns relationship with Maori and improve outcomes and equity; and
- establishing cross Government agency relationships to contribute positively to the work programme.
To be successful in this role we will be looking for your experience in people and programme leadership, and your knowledge and experience of DHB mental health and addiction services. You will be utilising the knowledge and skills you have from your sector experience to deliver this work programme. Significant people leadership experience is important, along with direct personal knowledge or experience living with mental health and/or addiction.
Having had strategic leadership experience, you will have strengths in managing people and teams, collaboration and influencing, planning and implementation of strategies, and the management of work programmes. Your ability to build and maintain positive working relationships will be instrumental in the delivery of this programme.
