Vacancies on the Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology
The Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ECART) is established under the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology (HART) Act 2004. Its purpose is to consider, determine and review applications for assisted reproductive procedures or human reproductive research.
Current vacancies on ECART:
One member with expertise in ethics
One lay member with the ability to articulate issues from a disability perspective
Preferred skills for these roles include:
knowledge of the HART Act 2004 and in particular the guiding principles for ECART
an ability to apply legislation and regulations in ethics review of applications
an ability to work objectively across a range of relevant perspectives and not adopt a narrow advocacy position
an ability to demonstrate open and responsive communication skills with an ability to reach consensus when different points of view are shared
an understanding of the needs, values and beliefs of Māori and their application to ethics review

ECART meets every two months in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. We welcome applicants from across the country who are willing to travel for this role. To apply or nominate someone, the following documents are required:
