- Do you want to lead work that will positively impact on the 200,000 people working in the health system?
- Are you looking for an opportunity to help shape and set the direction for a newly established directorate?
- Do you enjoying working at a system level?
The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and disability system in New Zealand and the Health Workforce directorate ensures that New Zealand has the health workforce it needs now and in the future. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join us and lead our newly established Policy and Insights group.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General Health Workforce you'll be responsible for setting the directorate's strategic direction and providing leadership and oversight of our health workforce strategy, policy and analytics functions and work programme. This includes overseeing the Government's Budget 19 investment to increase and develop the mental health workforce.
To be successful in this role you'll be able to demonstrate your experience leading the development of strategies (ideally across a sector or organisations) and translating them into actions. You'll be able to tell us about how you've developed work programmes and led teams with different specialties and the experience you have to deliver on these, and you'll know how to monitor progress and report on outcomes. With a policy background, you understand the machinery of government and know how to get things done.
We're a new directorate and this is a new group and a new role, so the opportunities for what you can achieve in this role are huge. You're comfortable carving your own path and are an innovative thinker who can see the benefits in the combination of strategy and policy with data, analysis and research.
You're a leader that people want to work for, with a clear vision and a collaborative working style. You excel at building teams, leading through others and developing people. You have strong working relationships and are as comfortable working across the directorate, Ministry and health system as you are leading down through your group.
