Our main clients are Ministers and Cabinet. We provide high quality health advice to inform the decisions they make on behalf of the Government.
The role of Manager Community Wellbeing is a new role that reports to the Group Manager Family and Community Health Policy. You will be responsible for developing, leading and implementing various programmes of work across the System Strategy and Policy directorate as well as cross agency project teams on joint work programmes. You will lead the development of policy advice on a range of cross cutting issues, including housing and homelessness, poverty, social welfare and the social determinants of health. You will work with other agencies to provide advice on improving outcomes for vulnerable populations using all levers available to government and the community.
You'll bring a thorough understanding of public policy issues and settings and have demonstrated success in leading complex policy pieces in a dynamic environment - you know what excellent policy advice looks like.
At times you will lead virtual teams across the Ministry and sector, including policy, operational and clinical stakeholders. You'll understand the machinery of government and know how to collaborate to get things done.
As a highly collaborative policy professional who can see the benefits of strong policy advice using data analysis and research to evidence advice. You bring with you a strong ability to take complex information and make it relevant across a range of audiences.
You'll be an inclusive people leader with an inclusive working style. You build your team, leading through others and developing policy talent. Proving clear direction for your teams ensuring equity issues and our obligations to the Treaty of Waitangi are at the forefront of our thinking and advice. Previous successful experience in collaborating and brokering with other agency and sector stakeholders to achieved desired outcomes is required. Experience working with Māori on policy, service design, engagement or governance is highly desirable.
