With four direct reports and a further six indirect reports, The Manager Antenatal and Newborn Screening leads three important screening programmes; the National Metabolic Screening Programme, the Newborn Hearing and Early Intervention Screening Programme and a quality improvement programme for Down Screening and other Conditions.
The Antenatal and Newborn Screening team sits within the Population Health and Prevention Directorate which works across sectors to achieve health equity and protect, promote and improve the health and well being of people, families and communities. The directorate includes our key national public health functions, emergency management, the National Screening Unit and a range of population health programmes such as child health, Pacific Health, tobacco control, immunisation, and cancer control.
The role of Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the antenatal and newborn screening team and working collaboratively with screening providers to ensure the objectives of the programmes can be met.
To be successful, we are looking for your skills in leading a team to achieve the best outcomes for mums, babies and their whānau. You will be comfortable setting out a strategic direction for the team whilst working collaboratively with stakeholders in this area. You will have previous experience in public health, contract negotiation and management, and are able to lead and support the development of new policies for the programmes. You will have an understanding of the importance of improving health outcomes for Māori and committed to driving initatives that support equity.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and develop relationships easily. You are a strong leader for your team and committed to their development.
