As a Clinical Chief Advisor reporting to the Ministry's Chief Medical Officer, you will contribute to providing leadership, clinical input and strategic professional advice across the Ministry's priorities and work programmes, the wider health sector and government.
A strong, quality health care system is central to improving the health of all New Zealanders and reducing health inequalities between different groups.
This role will have a focus on supporting the development and implementation of health care policy and programmes. It will require insight and innovative contribution to help shape the system to better meet the needs of all population groups, particularly those most vulnerable.
To be successful, you'll be a registered medical or surgical professional. You will have an excellent understanding of the wider health care sector, the value of collaborative approaches to achieving health gain, and a good understanding of systems thinking.
You'll have a demonstrated ability to successfully lead, manage and influence in a professional leadership role working in a complex environment, with a proven ability to write and talk about complex clinical and technical issues clearly and concisely and tailor messages for a range of audiences.
The breadth of this role will see you engaging with a wide range of high level internal and external stakeholders, so it's a given that you'll be skilled at developing and maintaining effective professional relationships.
The role is Wellington-based and will require a minimum commitment of 0.6 FTE.
