The Clinicians Screening Group provides public health, clinical and technical input into cancer and antenatal screening programmes and sits alongside the National Screening Unit (the operational arm of our screening programmes). We are offering a training position for a Public Health Medicine Registrar to join our group for a period up to a year. We currently have 4 Public Health Medicine Specialists so there is opportunity to work alongside a number of colleagues.
There is much change afoot for the screening programmes and the person in this training role will have the opportunity to work in some challenging and interesting areas. There is an opportunity to get some experience with applied epidemiology and analytics if this is of interest.
Clinicians Screening Group is part of the Population Health and Prevention Directorate at the Ministry which is responsible for working across sectors to achieve health equity and protect, promote and improve the health and wellbeing of people, families and communities. Alongside the National Screening Unit, the Directorate includes our key national public health functions, emergency management, and a range of population health programmes such as oral health, child health, Pacific Health, tobacco control, and immunisation.
The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and disability system in New Zealand.
