- You will be an integral part of the Ministry of Health Emergency Management Team, responsible for supporting engagement and navigating change within the health and disability system's emergency management arrangements.
- Full-time role based in the Northern region reporting to the Manager, Engagement
You will be able to demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement, health and disability system experience and the technical skills to enhance the ability of the sector to prepare for, respond to, and recover from any emergency response or disruption.
Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?
The Regional Emergency Management Advisor role is responsible for developing and maintaining strong regional stakeholder relationships allowing for ahead-of-time insights across the 4R's of emergency management.
You'll be located in the Northern region providing an important linkage between the Ministry and health and disability system partners and the wider emergency management sector. Your focus will be on engagement that strengthens emergency management planning and capability development; risk identification and assurance, and demonstrating regional leadership that ensures as a health system, we can effectively respond to emergencies.
This is a key role as part of liaison and engagement between the National Health Coordination Centre and the regional partners in a time of emergency response. The salary range for this position is $117,363 – $156,483 and will be appointed in alignment with skills and experience.

This role is suited to someone who brings a customer focused, “can-do” attitude who enjoys working in complex, fast-paced environments. The attributes we are looking for include the ability to think conceptually, solve problems collaboratively, engage well with stakeholders at all levels and be able to ‘read the room', work well in a team, and communicate complex ideas effectively. Strong machinery of government knowledge and experience, supporting and coaching junior staff is essential.
We are looking for someone with several years' experience within the emergency management community, is familiar with the National Security System, has a sound understanding of the Health and Disability system and is familiar with the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS).
To be successful in this role you will have sound practical experience of emergency management response. You will ideally have tertiary or professional accreditation in emergency management, as well as the ability to gain and maintain a national security clearance.
All Ministry workers on our sites or Ministry workers who conduct business in-person need to be vaccinated against COVID-19; proof of vaccination is a requirement.
