Provide strategic leadership and direction on the establishment and implementation of new regulatory regimes and the review and analysis of existing legislation.
Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team:
The Regulatory Practice and Analysis Team is responsible for the operation of regulatory authorities, which includes the Medicinal Cannabis Agency, the Psychoactive Substances Regulatory Authority and the Vaping Regulatory Authority. Functions include applications for licences and registration, product notifications and assessments, and enforcement and compliance activities.
The Team also provides technical advice on psychoactive substances and controlled drugs to other agencies and is responsible for providing secretariat services to the Expert Advisory Committee on Drugs, which includes the preparation of technical reports and administrative oversight.
Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?:
As the Manager Regulatory Practice and Analysis, you will lead the establishment and implementation of new and existing regulatory regimes. You will be responsible for building collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and providing high quality advice that is evidence based and draws on information, research and analysis from relevant sources.
Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako – Skills & Experience:
We are looking for a person with an appropriate tertiary qualification and significant relevant experience in a regulatory policy environment designing and implementing regulatory regimes.
You will have experience in managing technical or operational policy teams, providing mentoring and support as required. You will possess the ability to work strategically and apply critical thinking to the development of regulatory options and provision of advice while communicating technical and regulatory information to a wide range of audiences initiate.
You will be able to maintain excellent working relationships with a diverse range of external stakeholders as well as with other government agencies and understand our responsibilities to the priority of equity and meeting Treaty obligations.
This role is a band 20G which has a salary range of $136,224 - $181,632. Offered salary will be based on candidates' skills and experience.
This role falls within scope of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021. Proof of vaccination and adherence to the Order is a requirement of this role.
