Job Description
- Exciting senior leadership role within the Public Health Agency (PHA), reporting to the Deputy Director-General
- Provide leadership engaging with Pacific communities and lead the development and implementation of the first Pacific Health Strategy as outlined in the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022
- Provide strategic leadership for Pacific Health across the health system
- Ensure the voice of Pacific communities are understood and embedded across all Te Pou Hauora Tūmatanui and wider Manatū Hauora functions

The Public Health Agency (PHA) is a new and distinctly, branded business unit being established within the Ministry. It leads population and public health policy, strategy, regulatory, intelligence, surveillance and monitoring functions across the system.
Based within the PHA, this role provides Pacific leadership to the wider Manatū Hauora and health system.
Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
As the Director, Pacific Health, you will provide leadership and support to the Pacific Health team alongside the Chief Clinical Advisor, Pacific Health. You will build and maintain positive relationships across Manatū Hauora and the Public Health Agency, and provide Pacific input and expertise to retain the confidence of the Associate Minister of Health (Pacific). It is important to ensure the voice of the Pacific communities is understood and embedded across all Manatū Hauora functions and work programmes.
Our Pacific Health Strategy is a key deliverable over the next 6 months and you play an integral role in the development, implementation and engagement milestones. Your strong relationships with Pacific communities and deep knowledge of Pacific Health and the Pacific Health sector will help to ensure the aspirations and perspectives of Pacific communities and the Pacific health sectors are well integrated into our strategy. You will bring your confidence and experience in engaging effectively and in a culturally competent way to successfully support the team.

- Deep knowledge of Pacific health and the Pacific health sector and strong, well-established relationships with Pacific communities
- Previous experience in managing people, leading work programmes, coaching and mentoring staff
- In depth population and public health expertise in strategy and engagement
- Effective relationship management and influencing skills and experience in engaging with a range of stakeholders
