Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
We are seeking a dedicated Public Health clinical leader to provide expert guidance and strategic direction within the Public Health Agency and the wider Ministry.
Clinical Leadership: Offer public health clinical leadership and advice to the Deputy Director-General, Director-General of Health, and relevant Ministers, across both public and population health.
Strategic input: Provide strategic leadership for the National Public Health Service within Health New Zealand, working closely with the National Director and Chief Public Health Clinical Officer
Program Leadership: Lead key programs within the Directorate to achieve government and Ministry objectives
Collaboration: Engage with technical experts across government and the health sector to drive the government's public health objectives
Engagement: Represent the Public Health Agency and Ministry at key forums in addition to representing New Zealand in international public health discussions.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- Eligible for vocational registration in Public Health Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Significant experience of providing strategic health leadership including recognition as a leader in an area of Public Health
- Experience working in political environments and public-facing leadership roles
- Strong people leadership, management and influencing experience
- Understanding of the New Zealand health system
- Work as a Medical Officer of Health or equivalent role preferred
