Are you a dynamic leader with experience in leading complex health development programmes? Are you passionate about improving health outcomes in the Pacific? We are looking for a highly skilled and strategic Manager to lead the delivery of Phase II of the Polynesian Health Corridors (PHC) Programme through to June 2029.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of communities in the six Polynesian countries through leadership of a large and complex programme. You will have the chance to shape the strategic direction of a high-profile initiative with a substantial budget, closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, from Pacific health leaders and providers to government agencies.
The PHC Manager will lead the $30 million, five-year health development initiative across six Polynesian countries, including reporting to governance mechanisms. The programme is focused on delivering outcomes in four thematic areas: health security, non-communicable diseases, and access to essential medicines. This work underpinned by strong programme management systems and processes, high quality international development and public health practice, as well as robust evidence and insights. In this leadership role you will coach and mentor a team of up to 20 people, working alongside the Clinical Lead and four Pillar Leads to meet the needs of Polynesian health systems.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- Extensive proven experience in leading complex, multi-country health development programmes, ideally with a focus on the Pacific
- Strong expertise in programme management, including strategic planning, adaptive management approaches, budgeting, risk management and reporting, ideally with MFAT funded initiatives
- A deep understanding of Polynesian health systems, with demonstrated knowledge and experience of the Pacific health landscape, and relevant networks.
- Experience in building ownership, leading diverse teams and fostering a collaborative, results-driven work environment
- Ability to engage with senior officials, Ministers and governance groups, providing timely strategic advice and reporting tailored to the audience
- An understanding of the machinery of government and political savvy
- Curiosity, an ability to navigate ambiguous and complex settings and a strategic mindset are essential
- A commitment to equity and the ability to integrate the Treaty of Waitangi obligations into health development work
