Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Te Aho o Te Kahu was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control as well as system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in Aotearoa. The Agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
Ko tōu ake mahi – What You'll Do
The Public Health Medicine Registrar role will be will be located in the Knowledge Translation and Implementation team of Te Aho o Te Kahu and will be responsible for supporting projects and work across the Agency. This is a training placement for the New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine.
Working closely with your team and other agency staff you will provide high-quality, timely, evidence-based public health medicine advice across the Agency's work programmes.
Your exceptional communication and writing skills will be vital in providing clear, succinct, responsive and appropriate advice to the Chief Executive, Agency teams and external stakeholders.
You will support work within the Agency to deliver on the Government and Agency priorities and objectives, building collaborative and positive relationships across the Agency, Ministry of Health, wider health sector, government and other external stakeholders, ensuring all work meets Treaty obligations and reflects our priority of equity.

- Registrar (advanced trainee) with New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to write and talk about technical issues clearly
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply its principles to day-to-day work
- Ability to analyse complex technical information to provide advice to a wide range of audiences
- Ability to pull together clear ideas and conclusions from large amounts of technical data
