Ko tōu ake mahi - What you'll do
We are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor to join the Official Information Advisory Team! This 1-year fixed‑term contract for Senior Advisor, Government Services, plays a key role in providing expert advice, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the Ministry upholds our responsibilities and high governance standards. You will drive transparency and provide trusted advice and specialist knowledge of the machinery of government.
In this role you will be supporting the delivery of the Government and Ministry objectives by providing technical expertise and advice. You will manage a caseload of official advice for proactive release, as well as contributing to key pieces of work across the Ministry and collaborate with stakeholders both internal and externally.
As a Senior Advisor, you will be a member of one Government Services team but may be required to work across the four teams: OIA Services, Ministerial Correspondence, Parliamentary Advice and Coordination, and OIA Advisory.

- Solid working knowledge of the machinery of government, risk management, and managing at the political interface.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to influence and work with staff of all levels.
