- Focused on improving cancer treatment in Aotearoa
- Permanent, full time with flexible work options available, based in Wellington
- Salary midpoint of $105,270. The position and salary offered will be based on skills and experience.
Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Te Aho o Te Kahu was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control as well as system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in Aotearoa. The Agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
Ko tōu ake mahi – What You'll Do
The Senior Advisor will be be located in the Knowledge Translation and Implementation team of Te Aho o Te Kahu and will be responsible for providing high-quality advice, sector liaison, coordination, critical analysis and recommendations as part of the work programme.
The Knowledge Translation and Implementation team provides expertise across Te Aho o Te Kahu work programmes, to progress the goals of fewer cancers, better survival and equity for all. The team synthesises a broad range of evidence to develop knowledge products and expert advice.
Working closely with your team and other agency staff you will identify linkages, overlaps and synergies with other relevant work programmes in Te Aho o Te Kahu, the Ministry of Health, and the sector.
Your exceptional communication and writing skills will be vital in providing clear, succinct, responsive and appropriate advice to the Chief Executive, Agency teams and external stakeholders.
You will support work within the Agency to deliver on the Government and Agency prioritiesand objectives, building collaborative and positive relationships across the Agency, Ministry of Health, wider health sector, government and other external stakeholders, ensuring all work meets Treaty obligations and reflects our priority of equity.
Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and experience of machinery of government and development of policy is essential (experience in health policy specifically would be an advantage)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to synthesise information from multiple sources, assimilate complex information, problem-solve, and apply an equity ‘lens' to all work
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply its principles to day-to-day work
- Ability to negotiate/communicate, influence and build trusted relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels
