- Permanent, full time with flexible work options available, based in Wellington
- Salary midpoint of $140,938. The position and salary offered will be based on skills and experience.
Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Te Aho o Te Kahu-the Cancer Control Agency was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership for and oversight of cancer control in Aotearoa. The Agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
The System Performance and Innovation (SPI) team is tasked with measuring cancer system performance and working with partners to address inequities and/ or variation in cancer service access, treatment and outcomes.
Ko tōu ake mahi – What You'll Do
You'll play a pivotal role in leading and developing high-quality knowledge products relating to the performance of the cancer system, as well as contributing to delivery of the cancer system performance, innovation, and research work programme, and supporting the broader work of the Agency as required.
As the role is a technical and thought leadership position within the SPI team you will focus on providing high quality strategic and operational cancer system performance and innovation advice and supporting the production of system performance and innovation ‘knowledge products' (ie, public facing outputs or documents in various forms, such as reports, infographics, data dashboards, case studies and stories).
You will become the subject matter expert for cancer system performance and innovation monitoring and associated knowledge product production with a key aspect of your role developing, supporting and maintaining excellent working relationships, enabling effective partnerships and collaborations within the team, agency, and wider cancer care sector.
Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- A tertiary qualification in a health policy/ economics / health informatics/ communication or relevant field and/or equivalent experience in the health care/public sector.
- Demonstrated experience in using health system data (both qualitative and quantitative) to develop compelling content (narrative, graphical, etc.) that can be used to inform and/or drive system change activities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and extensive experience in planning and producing health system knowledge products (for policy, planning, quality improvement and research) that are aimed at diverse mix of target audiences.
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply its principles to day-to-day work
- Ability to negotiate/communicate, influence and build trusted relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels
- Experience in or knowledge of cancer, cancer services and the cancer system in Aotearoa New Zealand would be an advantage.
