- Salary midpoint of $105,270. Actual salary dependent on your experience
Unique opportunity to advance New Zealand's global health objectives, bringing your policy, coordination and briefing skills into a small team doing interesting mahi.
- Support our health leaders as they engage with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international bodies
- Contribute to our global health work programme, in coordination with NZ agencies (including Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade) and international health partners

At Manatū Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters. The Public Health Agency leads all public health and population health policy, strategy, regulatory, intelligence, surveillance and monitoring functions, and has a key role in advising Ministers on all public health matters.
On a day-to-day basis, you will build and maintain collaborative relationships across the Ministry and Health entities, other agencies and also with international partners. You will prepare policy briefings for Ministers and senior leaders representing New Zealand internationally to advance our interests, as well as providing timely strategic advice on global health.
Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Senior experience working on policy projects/ programmes, including the coordination of subject matter expertise
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy
- Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences, including Ministerial/Senior Leadership briefings
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including stakeholder engagement in New Zealand, other countries and international agencies.
- Previous successful senior level experience providing advice global health, population health or public health is desirable
- Knowledge of the machinery of Government, risk management, managing at the political interface
