We're looking for a passionate and experienced Principal Advisor to join our Equity & Whānau-Centred Care team at Te Aho o Te Kahu – Cancer Control Agency. This is your opportunity to help lead system change that improves outcomes and experiences for patients and whānau affected by cancer.

Te Aho o Te Kahu | Cancer Control Agency was established in 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control. The agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
The Equity & Whānau-Centred Care team leads system change projects that improve patient experience and support kaimahi across the agency to grow their equity capability. We work closely with leaders across the health and community sectors to drive meaningful change.
Ko tōu ake mahi - What you'll do
As Principal Advisor, you'll:
- Lead and support key projects that improve cancer care equity and patient experience
- Provide high-quality strategic and operational advice across the agency and sector
- Develop evidence-based insights and knowledge products to inform decision-making
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and support cross-sector collaboration
- Contribute to ministerial briefings, strategic documents, and system performance reporting
- Role model the values and behaviours of Te Aho o Te Kahu
Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who is confident, collaborative, and committed to equity. You'll also bring:
- Proven experience in policy development (health equity experience is a plus)
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills
- Ability to synthesise complex information and apply an equity lens
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and building trusted relationships
- Understanding of tikanga Māori, kawa, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver substantive projects
