Medsafe is the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority and regulates therapeutic products in New Zealand. In the Product Regulation Branch of Medsafe, we evaluate new and changed medicines against the international standards that New Zealanders expect their medicines to meet.
We are looking for an Advisor with the desire to contribute to the approval of safe and effective medicines and the expertise to evaluate the pharmaceutical chemistry aspects of the technical dossier provided by applicants seeking market authorisation.
This is a permanent, full time position located in Wellington. There may be the possibility of flexible working arrangements for an ideal candidate.
This role will suit someone with an interest and understanding of the manufacture, testing and quality control of medicines. The ideal candidate will have the ability to pull together clear ideas and conclusions from large amounts of technical data, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. A sound understanding of the assessment of bioequivalence and experience working in a biological laboratory setting is desirable but not essential.
In this position you will be able to manage your own workload, be willing to contribute to a peer review system, and work as part of a well-motivated team. There is also the opportunity to contribute to various projects within Medsafe and the wider Ministry.
To be successful you will have:
a science-based post-graduate qualification (eg, Pharmacology, Biomedical Science, Biochemistry) or relevant work experience
an ability to provide credible and evidence based technical and scientific advice
sound technical knowledge of and familiarity with the manufacture and testing of pharmaceuticals
an incisive mind, able to learn new things and to quickly understand complex situations
an ability to engage with others and be an excellent team player
sound written and oral communication skills.
